May 1st, 2010 SEECS FILM BUS TRIP START OFF!
5 young professors from seven countries – Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Romania, Serbia and Turkey – will embark on a journey on a bus, through the Balkan capitals to discover their neighbors’ histories and cultures. They will design a curriculum proposal on southeastern cinema for an MA degree that will be later taught at the respective universities. Furthermore the young professors will be filming their travels that will later be edited into a documentary.
The bus will also have 10 seats for participants from other CILECT schools, interested in the cinematic history of the countries at hand. This will allow the participants to obtain a new awareness of the historical and cultural background of the region as one being not only a place of wars and animosity but also a place of moral values, traditions and fruitful collaboration through film, art and education.
This project will enable a cultural exchange and historical awareness of the region that will strengthen our sense of identity and place in the world. Furthermore, this project will “educate the educator”, where they will interact with students and professors from each university visited and, as a result, create a more in depth point of view on their neighboring countries.
