Okan Ormanlı

He was born in Istanbul in 1974. He studied Radio-Tv and cinema at Marmara University (1993-1997). He recieved his Master degree in 2006 with his thesis entitled “The Transiton Period of Turkish Cinema and its Sociological Infrastacture” from Marmara University.

He was editor in TURSAK Cinema Foundation between 1998 and 2005. In this period he wrote many articles on cinema in several cinema magazines. Since 2005 he has been working as lecturer in the Department of Communication Design of the Faculty of Art and Design at Istanbul Kültür University.

 

In 2009 he recieved his PhD degree with the thesis “Relationship Between Father and Son in Turkish Cinema from 80’s Until Today”. At the end of 2010, he was promoted to the position of Assistant Professor. He has many national and international papers and articles on cinema. He also has two books about cinema. The first book, called “Film Criticism in Turkish Cinema” was published in 2005. And his second book called “Feyzi Tuna” was published in 2014. He became Associated Professor in the field of cinema in the end of the 2015. He teaches several different classes at university level, such as Cinema History, Art Critisicm, Acting in Cinema and Graduate Project etc.
